About the Founder
Nurul Ashikin firmly believes in the connection between the ideal weight, self confidence and success in the life of women. She was raised in a family that placed great emphasis on close relations and support for each other.
Sadly, Nurul Ashikin's mother succumbed to illness arising from complications involving the kidney, and soon passed away. Nurul Ashikin, who was 29 years old at the time, is still distraught at the loss of her mother, and has since been determined to live a healthier lifestyle in order to reach a good old age.
Nurul Ashikin obtained a degree as a civil engineer from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Due to popular demand and encouragement, after which she decided to add value to peoples' lives through healthier diets, Nurul Ashikin continued her studies and obtained a Diploma in Diet and Nutrition for Complimentary Therapist
In her efforts to achieve this, Nurul Ashikin gained much knowledge, information and experience. Her findings have shown that a positive change in one's lifestyle is effective in the prevention of harmful diseases. Her past experience has also brought awareness to her family, which has led them to practise healthier eating habits as part of their daily diet.
Buoyed by encouragement and enthusiasm from many quarters, Nurul Ashikin launched her first programme, My Ideal Weight, with the support of her father, husband and family. Through this effective programme, women can achieve their ideal weight, substitute their diet to one that encourages a healthier lifestyle and avoids the normal illnesses associated with the modern lifestyle - such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiac failure - as well as free themselves to spend more quality time with their loved ones.
Throughout her efforts to bring about her ultimate goals, Nurul Ashikin constantly immerses herself in new experiences through active participation in a variety of activities. In addition to attending formal classes, she also engages in study trips to farms and organic stores across the country, in order to keep abreast of the latest developments in organic eating and its preparation methods.
Nurul Ashikin undertook a Holistic Green Eco trip over eight days in Taiwan, where she gained important knowledge on the evolution of modern eating, which influences susceptibility to modern lifestyle illnesses. The principles used by farmers, animal rearers and food growers in Taiwan - which stress the importance of consumer health via non-use of preservatives, artificial colourings and growth hormones - greatly impressed her. Nurul Ashikin has also undertaken a healthy eating class in Singapore, to expand her knowledge on the subject.
Most important of all, March 2013 saw a milestone achievement for Nurul Ashikin, when My Ideal Weight collaborated with Malaysian Artiste Wardina Safiyyah to conduct a mini seminar for the Biggest Loser Challenge with Wardina programme.
Currently, Nurul Ashikin maintains an active schedule, whether conducting seminars and workshops at the My Ideal Weight training centre - located in Shah Alam - or acting as a guest lecturer all over the country. It is clear that she is making an impact, seeing as how she was once featured on TV where she spoke on obesity.
Nurul Ashikin's vision for the next three years is to develop a comprehensive support healthy weight loss system which is healthy and unique, which is the My Ideal Weight Programme, the My Ideal Weight Recipe Book, the My Ideal Weight Support Community and My Ideal Weight Merchandise. Within the next five years, she hopes to establish the My Ideal Weight Eco Resort, a project in which she is collaborating with her siblings
